CCP is on a mission to raise awareness about Dementia and enable fantastic, useful local support for people living with Dementia, their Carers and Families in our West Northumberland communities: we call this Dementia Friendly Communities.
Nearly 400 local people have become Dementia Friends through our Dementia Friends awareness sessions so far and received support and some practical resources to make dementia friendly environments in their community activities – Coffee Mornings, Soups and Puds etc – receiving helpful resources such as Sippy Cups and Adaptive Cutlery. We also engage and link them with the work of our Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Advisers.
If you would like to book a Dementia Friends awareness session and help your local community to become dementia friendly, we would love to help you: contact Caroline caroline.clarke@ccptynedale.org.uk
What people are saying about our Dementia Friends awareness sessions:
- “It was so informative and interesting and has really deepened my understanding. Much appreciated!”
- “In an age when more and more of us are receiving a diagnosis of Dementia for ourselves, a family member, friend or neighbour, it’s so lovely to be part of a movement to make things easier and happier for members of our community to live well and join in as a natural part of what we do and who we are. The important thing for me is that people feel safe, cared for and loved.” Sally leads Dementia Friendly Wark.
- “I learnt many useful points and feel encouraged by the proactive and supportive approach of the Alzheimer’s Society in our region. Many thanks again for organising this worthwhile session!”
